A few more photos and videos from my Pyrenees high traverse.
In the high mountains now. A couple very stormy days with lightning and very high winds, but my little tent held up.
From the Port du Lavedan, a dangerous scramble across a steep scree slope, climb to the wrong gap, and improvised descent down a rock face with scant handholds while wearing a big backpack. Not something I care to repeat:
In the high Pyrenees now:
My pitch on Lac d'Arratille - right before a big storm with high winds:
The same lake the next morning. Stormy, high winds, very cold:
A cold beer at a mountain refuge en route:
A cold, windy, stormy day:
Camped further down this beautiful valley, the Gave d'Ossoue. Another stormy night:
In Gavarnie for a food resupply, hot shower, clothes wash in a sink, and hot food. Been walking with these guys for a couple days: Declan from England and Ned from Wales.
Otherwise been hiking alone.
It's too bad the videos won't upload here. I'll try to put them on YouTube for you when I have a chance. Probably no phone signal for the next five or six days.
I'm 300km in by this point, and another 450km or so to go, with much higher, much tougher challenges in the next five days, including snow fields.
Great photos Ryan!
Sounds excellent! Hike on!!
